“Life’s Way Too Short To Blend In….”
“London never appears to take itself too seriously. I think that’s one of its coolest traits, which makes me feel at home again.” –Anya Hindmarch
You know how it feels to be that “small island” girl, where life is confined to 24-sq-miles floating in the middle of nowhere. A place where everyone knows you, where you can almost believe that getting lost in the Bermuda Triangle might just happen. A small island girl with big world dreams – dreams of expressing herself creatively, artistically; dreams of pursuing a career in fashion where you can create a trend based on your favourite place or thing; dreams of a lifestyle where everyone visually envies and wants to join.
Not many small island girls leave our paradise to go chasing their dreams. But my dreams were too big and here I am now, in London, studying Fashion Trend forecasting at the University of East London and my dream has become reality.
I live in the city of East London, which I've come to believe is THE most vibrant and multicultural area of London. In two years I've had so many life changing experiences, have opened my mind to thinking outside the box. I've met people of all races, participated in out-of-this-world fashion shows, been introduced to inspiring and motivated individuals, and visited places where thoughtful memories can only begin to tell. London has been my home away from home, and now my new found love.
I have to admit, at first, I was NOT wearing the I Love London T-shirt, but understanding my surroundings and finally being in the university and studying towards a degree I'm passionate about, I can confidently say I am where I want to be.
Why Fashion?

Clothes, Shoes, Accessories, Designers, Fashion Week, Fashion Shows, and Magazines are all aspects of fashion BUT the curiosity surrounding how a garment was made and what inspired its creation; why people wear what they wear; wanting to know the background history of fashion – these are some of the motivating forces behind why I chose to study fashion. Oh, and I can’t forget the desire to figure out how to spot or generate a new trend.
Every girl in my generation loves reading magazines, dressing up to go out or wants to have that new Louis Vuitton bag. We have become a community of fashion filled divas who love expressing ourselves through clothing and shoes. My job is to study the habits and lifestyles of my fellow consumers and to create an item with this research in mind. That is my passion and my degree’s goal.
So every year brings a New Year’s resolution or a set goal one targets. Twenty Ten philosophy: Life’s way too short to blend in. So I encourage you this year to stand out, do fashion don’ts, mix patterns together, have fun and create a new style. Fashion is my way to express my inner and outer beauty and I’m here to show you and express my experiences through fashion.
London: Fashion capital. Inspiring and Diverse. City of Opportunities. Gloomy and Grey. Depressing and sometimes Lonely: But My Home Away from Home.
