There are few customs that are such apt markers of Bermudian culture as our sporting events. And when it comes to sports, we Bermudians are lucky enough to have not one, but three, beloved pastimes: cricket, scrambling and football.
Cricket has been a staple in Bermuda’s sporting world, especially because it’s the focal point of probably the most uniquely Bermudian experience – Cup Match. There are few places in the world where a nation will stop its regularly scheduled programming of events and activities to watch a cricket match. This alone speaks volumes to its local importance as a cultural mainstay.
